East Orlando Snake Removal
Snake Control and Snake Removal Facts
While we live in Florida, and snakes are virtually EVERYWHERE! However, only 6 of the 44 known species that live in Florida are actually venomous. [no_toc]
Jurassic Park was “kinda” right… Some snakes can reproduce without mating with a male, they are able to fertilize their own eggs.
A snake can still bite for HOURS after the head has been cut off, if you ever decapitate a snake (which we promote humanely relocating), always bury the head at least 6 inches in the ground to prevent yourself, a family member or pet from getting bit.
While they’re called “Rat Snakes” for the obvious reason, an adult rat snake can only consume on average 1 rat per week. Many people feel having rat snakes and cats around their property are enough to control the rodent population, which isn’t enough.
Common Snakes in Central Florida
Perhaps the easiest snake to identify, this venomous family of the snake is well-known for its rattler. The most common in Florida is the Eastern Diamondback Rattle Snake, which can reach lengths up to 8 feet long. Rattlesnakes also have triangular heads.
This dangerous snake is found in the area of Apalachicola River, as well as in west of the Florida panhandle, therefore it is not an immediate concern to us on the Space Coast.
They like damp vicinity around swamps, stream and river beds, and the surrounding hillside areas. They also live in suburban areas where people reside.
The venomous snakebites of copperheads are very painful, but won’t usually kill a healthy adult.
Cottonmouth / Water Moccasin
The bite of a cottonmouth is painful and can be fatal, if not treated. If they feel threatened, they will coil their bodies, display their fangs and making ready to bite. They aren’t usually aggressive, however, some males can be very territorial on occasion, they have a tendency to not get scared off when hearing somebody coming, which leads to people accidentally stepping on them and getting bitten
Cottonmouths are semi-aquatic vipers and are normally found in, or near water. They are strong swimmers.
This small snake can be found all over Florida apart from the Florida Keys. The longest dusky pigmy rattlesnake reported was 31 inches, but a typical adult is between 12 and 24 inches in length.
This snake will attempt to protect itself if it feels threatened. It has a rattle that sounds like a buzzing insect when it is agitated. Its bite is not normally fatal, but very painful.
The dusky pigmy rattlesnake feeds mainly on frogs and mice and is commonly found in flat-woods, around lakes and ponds, freshwater marshes and swamp.
This dangerous snake has a serious bite, with only maybe the Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake packing a more life-threatening venomous snakebite. It feeds on lizards, frogs and other snakes. They are not known to be aggressive unless picked up or stepped on with bare feet, however, they are also very easily confused with the Scarlet Kingsnake (Which also has red, black and yellow bands), therefore it’s best to stay away!
When in doubt remember this rhyme..
“Red touch black, friend of jack. Red touch yellow, kill a fellow”

If you must remove a snake, you basically have four options for getting rid of your snake(s). First, you can call a professional wildlife expert from my below directory. This person can catch and remove the snake(s) and take other actions necessary to solve the snake problem. Second, you can purchase a snake trap if you wish to catch the snake yourself. Third, you can modify your land and seal up your house to help keep snakes away and out of the house. Fourth, you can try a snake repellent.
Many snakes are actually beneficial for the environment, and there’s more harmless snakes than venomous ones. But if you are uncomfortable with snakes on your property, or you want to know how to get rid of snakes in your house, you certainly have options. Typically, a professional snake removal expert is the best – they know how to get rid of snakes around the yard, in the basement, under a home, etc. from years of experience, and experience counts for a lot. But a snake trap is also a very effective and viable option. Repellents simply don’t work, despite all the fancy-pants manufacturer claims. If you use a repellent, it’s only a placebo, with no real effectiveness. Sealing your house against snakes is a good idea, and it can keep out bugs and mice as well. Altering your property is a harder task, and there will always be snakes outside, but eliminating clutter is a good idea. If you do see a snake, and you are scared, just leave it alone. Most snake bites actually occur when people try to kill snakes, or catch them by hand, or push them with a broom, or any other interaction. So just leave the snake alone, and call a pro or purchase a trap.
So will the high pitch sound do anything to the snake? The answer is no. Because the sense of hearing is not as acute in snakes the high pitched sound is really not going to have an effect at all. It may be irritating to it in some ways but the snake is not annoyed enough to be overwhelmed by the sound wave.
